Lotus
Compound Kids · A Lotus program
EIGHT WEDNESDAYS · WESTPORT PUBLIC LIBRARY · JAN 2027

Kids have the one thing you can't buy back.

Time. Understanding money at eight instead of at twenty-eight is the biggest head start anyone gets, and almost nobody gets it. Compound Kids is eight weeks of hands-on money skills for kids 8 to 13, with real money and real stakes. No worksheets, no lectures.

$365 · 8 weeks
$50 of it is real money, theirs
Ages 8–13, two groups
20 kids per group

Starting balance
A teaching illustration of compounding, not a guaranteed return. It's the lesson your child sits through, week by week.
TWO GROUPS · SAME EIGHT WEDNESDAYS

Same ideas, pitched at two very different ages.

Both groups manage $50 of real money across four jars. The difference is how far we push it: Explorers learn what money is and what choices feel like, Founders start running the numbers and defending their thinking out loud.

Ages 8–10

Explorers

Concrete and playful. Trading, pricing, saving up for something they actually want, and finding out the hard way what happens when you spend it all in week two. The goal is instinct, not arithmetic.

Sharper and more strategic. Interest, risk, opportunity cost, and building an idea worth backing. They finish by pitching to a real financial professional and answering real questions about it.

All sessions at the Westport Public Library. No class on February 17, that's school winter break, so we run a week later instead. The program closes on March 10 with Market Day, when families come watch every kid run a real stall. Registering a second child? Email us after the first one and we'll send a separate invoice with 15% off.
WHAT A WEEK LOOKS LIKE

Five beats, every Wednesday, and it never feels like a lesson.

The same rhythm repeats for eight weeks, which is the whole point. Repetition is what turns an idea into an instinct.

01

Hook

A sealed envelope. A mystery box. A dare, with no explanation yet.

02

Game

They play for real, 25 minutes, and their choices have consequences.

03

Reveal

We only ask questions. They explain what just happened. That's where it sticks.

04

Ledger

The ritual that never gets skipped, until it's second nature.

05

Mission

One small dare to carry home before next Wednesday.

Week 1, for example: three mystery boxes, 100 pretend dollars, and a room full of kids who will absolutely overpay for the shiny one. That's the whole lesson. They just don't know it yet.
WHO'S IN THE ROOM

Run by people who actually know this stuff.

Plus a guest, and a real community effort

Compound Kids runs as a collaboration between Lotus, the Westport Public Library, and a local financial professional from the Westport community, who joins for one session to hear real pitches and answer real questions. Guest speaker to be announced as we lock them in.

BEFORE YOU REGISTER

A few questions, answered

My child is right on the line between groups. Which one?

Email us. We'll help you pick based on where they'll feel challenged rather than just their birthday. Some ten-year-olds belong in Founders and some elevens are happier in Explorers.

What if we miss a session?

The eight weeks build on each other, so we ask for a full commitment. If you know about a conflict in advance, email us and we'll help your child catch up on what they missed.

We have kids in both groups. Does that work?

It works well: one drop-off, two age-matched rooms, back to back. Register the first child normally, then email us and we'll send an invoice for the second with 15% off.

Is the $50 really real?

Yes. It's included in the $365 and it becomes your child's money to manage across the four jars for the whole eight weeks. That's what makes the decisions land.

Still have a question?

Email hello@lotuswestport.com and Michal will get back to you directly.
